From private CEDs to Cloud Computing: the evolution of data centres has been unstoppable and today the sector’s demand is fuelled by the need for national and community sovereignty, power for AI, and the saturation of digital hubs in the FLAP Cities.
Milan and Lombardy – with their high density of data centres – are the leaders of a second wave of development of large data technology infrastructures, characterised by the growing spread of ‘premium’ data centres, closer to customers with high value-added services.
The data centre sector is becoming increasingly strategic and is also under the spotlight from a regulatory point of view. This is why IDA – Italian Data Centre Association – is working with the Government, playing a key role in contributing to the drafting of a national law that defines data centres as a specific reality, with uniform standards for their design, implementation and management.
