IDA in the pages of La Repubblica (Affari&Finanza)

In a recent article published by La Repubblica, IDA President Sherif Rizkalla discussed the growing interest in the data centre sector in Italy. According to the Milan Polytechnic Observatory, by 2025 estimated investments in the sector could reach 15 billion euros.

During the interview, Rizkalla highlighted three key factors that are driving this evolution:

  1. Digitisation of Europe’s third largest economy: more and more Italian companies are moving servers outside and adopting cloud solutions.
  2. Localisation of data centres: in order to guarantee greater speed and data security, it is preferred to locate these centres close to customers, whether public or private.
  3.  Strategic location of Italy: our country enjoys submarine connections connecting it to both Africa and the East, making it a strategic point for data centres.
