FORWARD 2025 Italian Datacenter

The success of FORWARD 2025

Nearly 300 companies and professionals attended last Wednesday, January 15, FORWARD 2025, the summary meeting of IDA’s second year of activity, in the exclusive setting of the Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milan.

The event, hosted by Ylenia Totino (TV Host and Digital Influencer), was opened by a presentation by President đť—śđť——đť—” Sherif Rizkalla, who in his speech took a snapshot of the macro scenario and the strategies to be deployed in the immediate future, starting with the promotion of ever-increasing energy efficiency for the social and environmental sustainability of Data Centers.

The evening continued with “The Role of Nuclear Energy in the Challenge of Decarbonization,” or the topic at the center of the exciting talk by Alessandro Dodaro, ENEA Nuclear Department Director, who explained how, “Energy production and use account for more than 75 percent of the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.”

Space for projects carried out in 2024 by IDA Working Groups: from the success of the Data Center Open Day for Schools to the thematic seminars for professionals, to Proptech Day, which consolidated the Association’s synergy with the Milan Polytechnic. Data Center Labs and the publication of White Papers on the most topical issues for the sector: from the urban framework of Data Centers in Italy to the authorization process for their construction and startup. Not forgetting “001 Missione Data Center,” the first comic book series that told the general public about the world of Data Centers. A preview of the initiatives for 2025 was not missed: from the Data Center Talent Scholarship to the Roadshow for Schools to the Learning Labs and the Milan Run Challenge.

The event concluded with a heartfelt video message from one of the most staunch supporters of Data Center development nationally and in Lombardy: the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana.

“The Datacenter sector is a flywheel for employment and the economy, both nationally and in Lombardy, and for this reason our region was among the leaders in Italy in approving guidelines to provide local administrations with the tools to better manage the requests of economic operators, prioritizing the recovery of sites that are inactive or to be regenerated.”
