IDA at the Senate hearing on environmental regulation

IDA – Italian Datacenter Association took part in a hearing before the Presidency Office of the 4th Committee of the Italian Senate, as part of the examination of COM(2025) 984, the proposed European regulation aimed at accelerating and simplifying environmental impact assessment procedures.

The meeting represented a key opportunity for discussion on an issue that could significantly affect the development of digital infrastructure in Italy. More efficient and harmonized procedures at the European level can help strengthen the sustainability, competitiveness and effectiveness of investments in the data center sector.

IDA was represented by Andrea Grappelli, Vice Chair of the Permits Working Group, and Valerio Greco, Public Affairs Manager. During the hearing, they presented the data center industry’s perspective to the Committee, emphasizing the strategic role of digital infrastructure in supporting national growth and the importance of clear, fast authorization processes aligned with sustainability objectives.

Through this participation, IDA reaffirms its commitment to institutional dialogue and to contributing to the definition of a regulatory framework that supports the development of modern, resilient and low‑environmental‑impact digital infrastructure.
